Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
Our School Wellbeing program takes a whole school approach to the wellbeing of our students. The aim of the program is to develop an inclusive and supportive environment that facilitates open and respectful communication between staff, students, parents and community. Students will develop skills and demonstrate behaviours from the school’s PBL system: Show Respect, Take Responsibility and Personal best.
Our Student Wellbeing Program aims to build a caring environment characterised by strong student/staff relationships where our students feel safe and supported. We aim to promote responsible and appropriate behaviour to enhance learning opportunities which encourage every student to reach their full potential.
This is achieved through a number of school program and guest presentations each year.
The focus areas are:
Year 7 and 8
Personal and collective identity, relationships and resilience
Year 9 and 10
Connectedness and resilience, risk-taking, conflict resolution, goal setting
Year 11 and 12
Connectedness and resilience, study habits, post-school transition
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support.
