High potential and gifted education (HPGE)
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Intellectual
Platinum classes
Our Year 7 to 10 Platinum class at South Grafton High School offers students the opportunity to be extended beyond the normal curriculum. We aim to promote opportunities for every student and support each student so that they achieve at the highest possible level. Applications open Term1 for Year 6 to 7 and Term 4 for Year 8 to 10.
Recognising student success
We celebrate student achievements in academics, sports, and Positive Behaviour for Learning within the school community through Semester Awards Assemblies and the Year 12 Graduation ceremony.
Scholarship opportunities
Our school offers a range of scholarships to support HPGE students by enhancing their access to opportunities and resources.
Creative
Our school encourages and provides opportunities for students to develop and showcase their creative talents in dance, visual art, choir, and band.
Physical
Our school supports talented athletes to excel through the Combined High Schools pathway. Each year, our students proudly represent the school at Regional, State, and National levels.
Social/emotional
We foster the social and emotional wellbeing of HPGE students through initiatives such as our Year 10 peer mentoring program and the Student Representative Council.
