Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.

SRE-Special Religious Education at South Grafton High School

Students at South Grafton High from years 7 to 10 participate in Special Religious Education (SRE) classes once a fortnight (cycle).

The school provides an authorised specialist teacher who is organised by Generate Ministries. The teacher has met the Department of Education (DoE) guidelines with SRE Accreditation Training and has met relevant requirements in the Child Protection Act 2012, and the Child Protection regulation 2013.

In compliance with DoE Religious Education Implementation Procedures, the teacher has had their WWCC number verified by their authorising SRE provider, The Salvation Army NSW/ACT Division.

The authorised curriculum, Think Faith can be found at https://thinkfaith.com.au

Students who do not participate in SRE classes are allocated a supervised classroom to do private study, which follows DoE guidelines.
